One thing you'll learn about me... I'm a list person. Really I'm a writing person, and lists are how my thoughts naturally organize into writing and words and sense.
I'm making a lot of lists lately...
To-do lists. Packing lists. Shopping lists. Reading lists. Lists I write on sticky notes at work. Lists I jot down in that gray area between awake and asleep when the most critical of ideas seem to make their presence known.
... probably because I'm having a lot of new thoughts lately.
Thoughts about what needs to be bought, what needs to be brought, and what needs to be left behind. Thoughts about tying loose ends and saying goodbyes. Thoughts about friendships, both deep-rooted and yet-to-be-sown. Thoughts about deadlines and time. Thoughts about minutes slipping away from one part of life into another. Thoughts about endings.
But also many thoughts about beginnings.
If you're reading this, you probably know that I've got a pretty major ending/beginning combo coming up in my life soon.
Ending of my life as a student/Beginning my life as a teacher
Ending of my life in America (for now, Mom)/Beginning of my life in China
Ending of my life in the known/Beginning of my life in the unknown
So as I'm processing all of these thoughts on the finals and the not-yets, I decided to indulge myself in a little listmaker's therapy and cross one item off of my to-do list:
Create a blog.
(Check.)
It's something I've been wanting to do for a while, but I've needed a good reason to do it...
... and what better reason than completely changing my vocation, my location, my life?
